I'm considering buying a new mac 867, but I have to run autocad 2000 for 2d work. Is there anyone out there that uses virtual pc4 on a g4 to run autocad? What are your thoughts. Please help, as I may be forced into buying a pc

The short answer is: it depends.

I run AutoCad r.14 via VPC 4.02 on a 500Mhz Pismo. I work with AutoCad in an external monitor, and I live with the slight pauses in the screen refresh rate. VPC only emulates 4MB of video ram, so this may be the problem. I don't know how it would stack up with the GeForce video cards in an 867.

I don't know much about r.2000. AutoCad will work, but the real question is will it work for you.

You can also try this discussion.

Good luck,
