Hi.

I use Cinema 4D quite a bit and am getting tired of it's old Aqua theme (OSX 10.1 style!!!). So, I was wondering if someone with some skill in theming could change Cinema 4D's default theme into something like Max Rudberg's Brushed 3.5, Milk 2.2 and the clean/crisp Aqua Extreme 2.1.1?
ShapeShifter and it's themes have no affect on Cinema 4D's interface!

Cinema 4D basically has 3 layered photoshop (.psd) files which it uses for it's various button status'...

This is what the 3 photoshop layered files look like; below each image is the dowload link to the layered photoshop file (option-click to download):

http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dt...eme_normal.psd

http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dt...heme_focus.psd

http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dt...e_disabled.psd

Could someone add the Brushed, Milk and Aqua Extreme elements to these .psd files? I have no idea where to begin doing this and from where to get the different images states from?!?

Thanks for any help.

I second this request.. Although, there is more than the default aqua theme. You should be able to select Blueberry in the preferences.

Yea, I've tried the other themes too, but they're also not the greatest, infact I prefer the default old-style-aqua over the others... and thats bad!

If someone who's got this app wants to contact me, we can probably put an app skin template for ThemePark together for it pretty easily.

Thanks for the reply smeger

I don't if this is what you mean, but Cinema 4D doesn't actually use .rsrc or .icns files, it simply uses the .psd files I've posted above so all that needs to be done if for the .psd files to be edited (with layeres preserved) then these new .psd files would replace the older(original) .psd files.

The .tiff files are used for the window backgrounds - the pinstripes, etc...

Cinema 4D's themes are changed from within it's preferences:

If you're interested, you can download the complete themes that Cinema 4D uses below:
http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dthemes/aqua.sitx
http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dt...blueberry.sitx
http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dthemes/macos9.sitx
http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dthemes/MaJa.sitx

Here you can see how ugly the themes look

ps. glad I'm not the only one tired of C4D's old themes

Well, this is what I've managed to do with Cinema 4D's internal Aqua interface (.psd) files, it's almost all brushed!

As you can see in the larger version here (http://homepage.mac.com/marcel.b/3dt...d_brushed1.jpg) there are still some gui bits that I can't find in Max's Brushed themes. The rest has been a simple task of copying and pasting from ThemePark into Photoshop.

I've managed to get the Radio buttons, Sliders, Tabs, Scroll bars, and background patterns, but I have't been able to find the gui parts outlined in red.

If someone with a little knowledge could please post the names of these part so that I could find them in ThemePark, that would help me tremendously when I make the other Milk, Aqua Extreem and possibly some other themes for C4D.

Does anyone know what the names are of these gui parts?

p.s. One thing is sure, I have new found respect for theme creators

Wow, nice work! What release of C4D are you using?

Anyway..I'm not sure about everything in the picture. I know the second thing is Pop-Ups and the last things is Window Titlebars (along with window titlebar buttons).

And I think you might have to adapt some things from the theme to put them into C4D because I don't think all the objects C4D uses are represented in a regular theme.

Hi, deej5871

I'm currently using version 8.5 of Cinema 4D. Also, I think you're right, I might have to do some custom gui-design for C4D, in particular the second last part from the bottom (the last red arrow) - it's a scroll bar that I don't think excits in any themes OSX uses.

Anyway, thanks for the tips.

Does it ever!
Looking back, the original aqua with those bold pinstripes, excessive shadows, etc. And to make it worse, the text rendering in C4D looks like dog ****.
This thread also begs the question: "Should more 3rd party apps be skinned?"
I say yes. Currently, the only software to my knowledge that has an appskin and doesn't come preinstalled is Toast 6. I'd like to see more applications included in the list. I think C4D is a good start. I'd love to see FCP, DSP, Soundtrack, Motion, etc. have the option to be skinned. [Although I think FCP has its resources is a framework folder or something]

Kind of OT, but is there anyway to change some of the graphics in PS? I've looked in the bundle and see absolutely nothing. All I see are PS plugins and DLLs.
A black theme would be more bearable if I could change that damn eye in the layers palette.

Agreed. Themeing Photoshop would be wicked.
Is it possible?

(Sorry to continue the OT tangent)

Well, here it is, the Brushed-Metal theme for Cinema 4D (v8.5).

(click on image for lagre version)

There are two small gui parts I could find, but then I don't know where they are used in C4D!..
Anyway, download the Brushed theme here: link
Place it into the Applications/MAXON/CINEMA_4D_R8/Resource/schemes folder, then start up Cinema 4D and choose the "Brushed" theme from the preference list.

The Milk version is coming along slowly too:

I'll have to do something about those grey boarder-lines all over the gui.

Maybe I should make a Modo style theme?

Enjoy

Here is the Milk Theme for Cinema 4D. It didn't quite work out as well as I wanted it to, but for now it'll have to do.

Get it here:HERE

Thanks goes to Max Rudberg for allowing me to use his themes.

Sweetness...

Hey, could you put up your layout file so maybe..I could use it? (Please) Unless you don't think it would work in 8.2. Then don't bother I guess.

One last thing: How about a SIRO theme? Although it may be hard to get permission from DSKY...

Hi deej5871

You can get my c4d layout here: Link

I'm not sure about a SIRO theme just yet, maybe if I can get permission...
I think I'll also try some others themes when I have some time...
