hi, Dear all,
i plan to set up an archive server in a Radiology Department so that the imaging files ( in DICOM format ) can be stored in the servers and be retrieved and as a back up device in addition to the CDs.
As i am totally naive with the servers stuff, so get the following questions :
1/ can Xserve compatible with the workstation that we are currently using? ---- GE workstation for viewing the medical image files, which the workstation is running in window XP based PC desktops.
2/ our data throughput is around 60Gb / mths that needs to be stored, if mac servers can be used, then shall we use Xserve or Xserve RAID?
3/ we have optic fibers connected through all our workstations already.
4/ are there other softwares /hardwares that need other than the "server " hardware ?
actually, my concern is compatibilty with the workstations so that we can open the retrieved files from the servers and of course , stored data, and also stability of the archive systems.
thanks a lot for your opinions
