Never mind the legalities. That thing is tacky and boring. Couldn't they have made it look interesting, like an embossed stylised silver surfer instead of a blueish toylike thing with a **** graphic design? I mean, look at that web address. Bleurgh!

Blue ink printed on a coin? WTF. You put them in the pocket with other coins and they get all scratched up anyway.

Good luck getting it to work with modern vendor machine. They'll reject it with error message "This coin is lame, get a real quarter."

I find it hard to believe that the Franklin Mint didn't know better.

From the article:

"We were confident this coin followed the same procedures and guidelines but will certainly take any necessary steps if advised otherwise."
What do they mean "IF advised otherwise?" They just WERE advised otherwise by the US Mint.

Wow, that thing is really ****.

Despite that, why on earth are they making a "silver surfer" coin in the first place?

So they can sell it to SS fanboys for 1000 times its actual value.

Better question is why they're making a sequel to that flaming piece of crap.

The Franklin Mint must have known what they were doing. I'm very surprised they did it. How long till Coke and Pepsi start advertising on US coins?

... so I can start a collection of renegade advertising on US coins.
... so I can put it in the meter for an extra 15 minutes of parking.
... so I'm twenty-five cents closer to purchasing an iPhone.
