What is with this challenge, today?

Pass the Rock
Earn 20 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking.
There seems to be more to it than just getting 20 assists as I've gotten a failure as soon as I die in a match. It's like you have to get assists without dying or something.

Speaking of glitched... did anyone else use the save & quite/resume campaign trick to get the "Complete <insert mission> on Legendary with out dying" challenges?

I knew that's how you did it.

I have yet to be convinced that any of the campaign mission challenges are worth the time investment, let alone the Legendary or Flawless Cowboy ones.

Time for me to breakdown an informative bungie weekly update. Rants, as always, incoming.

Bungie.net : Bungie Weekly Update: 10/15/2010 : 10/15/2010 2:51 PM PDT
We’ll make sure you get to play these suckers as much as humanly possible should you decide to plunk down 800 Microsoft points in support of our DLC Team’s efforts. Unlike the map packs of yore, we won’t only be offering a playlist specifically tailored for players with access to DLC.

Of course, for those who demand a DLC-only experience, we’ll blow the whistle and open up a VIP lap lane just for you. It'll be ready to go on day one.
Am I the only one confused by this? Seems contradictory.

October Playlist Updates: Part Deux
Commentary in italics

New Playlist: Team Snipers
New Playlist: I ****ing called this two weeks ago. Idiots.

New Playlist: Living Dead
New Playlist: I didn't call this, but it seemed obvious given the raging on your forums

Multi Team
• Changed weighting for Rocket Race so it does not have a 100% chance to appear in Slot 3
It gets voted constantly, but instead of making it its own playlist, we need to save Rocket Race for a later update so you won't notice we have nothing else to offer. (See: Grifball)

Firefight
• Updated Firefight playlist gametypes to be a full set instead of 1 round. Adjusted skull progression.
Updated Firefight to promote quitting. We should have added the full round as "Firefight Pro". Expect this to be a point of contention for the next month.

• Removed Friendly Fire
Give us another month until we figure out we should do this for Campaign MM too

Zealot/Arena Zealot
• Arena Zealot is now used for all Slayer gametypes
1/4th of the map has now been made unplayable

Boneyard
• Modified respawn zones for Slayer gametypes
You will get raped less often, Red Team.

In addition to the Playlist changes, we’re also introducing two new Forge Map Variants with this update, Cliffhanger and Atom.
It takes like 3 minutes for us to Forge something. Here's a bone considering we shipped with 8 real maps. Expect this **** up your heat map even more.

But Luke promised we’d talk about raising the level cap soon and today we have the details. Hope you’re up for a challenge. In the very short term future a thermometer will appear on the Bungie.net front page charting the community’s collective progress towards completing, wait for it…

117 Million Daily & Weekly Challenges!

Don’t freak out. Currently, our online engineers project that you’re on pace to hit that milestone sometime in November.
If this is around November 9th, it's a total coincidence, dude.

---

Also, another bad weekly challenge.

Played a few games before i made the trek into work this morning and actually finished off the weekly in my second game of Multi-team, SWAT got voted in with my 30 kills and his 20, i knocked it out.

We were up towards the end and had a combined 43 kills, with only 7 remaining for the win i still only had 24, i needed 6 of the last 7 to complete the challenge.

EDIT: this is another perfect example of when i've completed the weekly challenge in a single sitting, this should not happen.
ALthough the 50 firefights games was not worth enough credits, it was still a WEEKLY challenge, i didn't complete it till sunday.

I thinnk Stogie meant to post this here, instead of that other thread.

Another batch of daily challenges with shitty payouts.

Gunslinger - 400 cR
Kill 40 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking.

One Spartan Army - 1500 cR
Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking.

The Dream Shake - 1000 cR
Earn 4 Double Kills in the same match in multiplayer Matchmaking.

Heroic Holdout - 600 cR
Kill 50 enemies on Holdout on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking.

4 double kills in one match? Blah! In other news, I finally reached Major grade 3 last night. Less than 50,000 cR to go.
Yeah, not too enticing. The only way I could get 4 double kills is with the tank,
maybe.

And I played the campaign yesterday, so I was looking to play online today. I'm almost done the campaign (on Heroic), I'm just approaching the shipyard where the Pillar of Autumn is.

Sunday took a big hot dump on my chest, but yesterday fatty and I managed some luck. We didn't know we were doing well, however, thanks to two ties and a constant stream of betrayers and griefers.

We ended the night in Team Objective where we kept the same full lobby for 3 games. I played over my head, particularly the last game.

That was an unreal group we got paired with for Objective last night, real classy guys that knew how to play the goddamned game.

I ended up getting my 30 kills in one match on the last game of the night, Territories on Sword Base.* I also was able to get my first MM overkill and extermination thanks to oblivious enemies and a fully loaded shotty.

*Sword Base is the best map in Reach. However, that fact is kind of sad.

Countdown has really grown on me. It's probably my second favorite map for Rumble Pit. (Sword Base being the first.)

I played a game of headhunter on Asylum last night and scored a Skullamanjaro. I had no idea there was such a medal.
Bungie.net : Reach : Game Details

BTB started out rough last night.
Bungie.net : Reach : Game Details

But then I joined a lobby with competent players and ended up winning the last 3 matches.

It really is, as with its serpentine lay-out its at best middling.

And as you said last night, Spire gets worse every time you play.

Yesterday was a nice day to play Halo:Reach. I'd forgotten about the update, and started up firefight matchmaking to find the game last 3 times as long now. I forgot it went from 1 round to 3 rounds. Allowed me to get my blastymite achievement and alot of CRs.

But time-wise I doubt you actually get more CRs per hour, it's just that the match lasts longer.

It's going to get harder to get a perfection commendation, but probably easier to get others.

I see the other playlists are there too, Team Snipers, Living Dead, etc...

Does anybody remember what yesterday's "Be Their Huckleberry" was worth? Today's is nice, but I'm pretty sure it's being devalued per kill.

I'll have to check out the other challenges. I'm not really interested in shooting everything with my pistol - even if I was to play Gruntpocalypse.

Man, the Pillar of Autumn is a grind, even on Heroic. I'm starting to hate how powerful these Elites are. I used to hate the Brutes, but now I find Brutes easy compared to the white and gold Elites. then the smartasses try and hide once I get their shield down, to regen.

I'm certain they can "sense" when the reticule is on them.

I have to say, quite honestly, between that and their ability to out melee you, its the cheapest AI I've seen from a modern game. it's an embarrassment.

Leonard, where are you at on Pillar of Autumn? I found the Elites to be ridiculously hard on Legendary until I started using the plasma pistol noob combo. The Elites were pretty easy after that. I like that the plasma burst can now semi-lock onto a target. The Elites can't out maneuver the burst and you can still hit them at a reasonable distance.

Right now, I'm at the part where I come up against 2 hunters and a few other enemies. I think I can take care of those.

There were 2 groups of elites before the hunters and I'll probably run into some more elites after the hunters.

I never did care for the plasma pistol, but I have found the burst useful for vehicles in multiplayer. if I come on elites again, I'll give what you mention a try.

What a depressing story. All the members of the team get killed. Would have been nice if one of them survived. Sure it is sort of a story of hope, eventually they win the war.

Yeah, I noticed he suddenly pulled away from me. Either he's desperate to beat you to Lt. Colonel or he's desperate to move on to a better game, like New Vegas.

BTW, I've had a few 20k days myself (I think during that play a million rounds of firefight week).

So anybody gonna be on tonight? I'm in the mood to do some campaign (Legendary). Particularly since the challenges blow.

Also, I think I had a break through last night on my map no one will ever play again. Been testing ways to make a decent structure all week.

I should be on around 9pm EST, I'm down for whatever, including campiagn if your on Dakar.

Man, almost had the 4 Horseman challenge... I was playing team objective Crazy Kings and got 4 double kills, just needed one more and the game finished before I got the 5th.

Geez, my Halo Reach k/d is 0.99. Alot better than my Halo 3 k/d. Then again, I probably joined Halo 3 late and I think there were more a****** in Halo 3. There were also alot more pro teams preying on the non-pros in the Halo 3 playlists.

Damn, I see somebody's already got all of Halo:Reach's 49 achievements.
