What? was there a new series recently? I thought it ended a few years ago.

(was it a repeat?)

Season 5 on DVD is due in November.

t'was one of the best series ever - up until about series 5 or 6 - or whenever they got that stupid unfunny bird in [playing kachanski] and started using expensive special effects [no doubt to make it a bit more export-friendly]. they've been running one of the latter series on BBC2 here recently and i cannae even watch it, it's so unfunny. methinks messrs grant & naylor should have quit while they were ahead [qv. fawlty towers, blackadder, father ted] rather than continuing to flog a practically decomposed horse.

no doubt the film, if ever made will be equally shite ie. big name cardboard cutout hollywood hunks playing all the characters in a big cardboard cut-out handsome hollywood hunk-ish way. oh. and of course there'll be lots of big explosions to make sure we don't get too bored.

i for one will not be queuing up for a ticket

Mind you, you must admit that the "Arnold Rimmer" song was good.

There are a few lame episodes in the later series - that`s right.
The movie by the way features the original cast.

unfortunately it's the original cast plus the new annoying kochanski bird minus one half of the original writing team. it'll be shite.

Wanna bet?
It`s impossible to re-create the excitement and novelty of the first two series.
And they have to adress a bigger audience - not just fans.
I guess the chances are 50:50.
