Hey All.
I have been lurking for a while just admiring everyone of these setups, and alas my new G5 and 30" display has arrived, so I am delighted to share a picture or two for you all to enjoy.
The computer rocks. I still have my prior Apple a TiBook 800Mhz but needed a change to some newer technology. I thought a desktop would be a good choice. The G5 is really leaps and bounds above my G4 - its very noticeable. The 30" display blows me away each time I sit down and get working...
You'll note I took the side panel off the G5 but it was merely for the photos to show a friend. I run the computer with the side panel on.
The display is perfect. No problems in setting it up, and no manufacturing defects are apparent. The colour is perfect and accurate and watching DVDs is a bit of fun, particularly when compared with my little 15" powerbook (Side by side, the powerbook looks like its a 12" PB).
I got my computer yesterday, and was fortunate to get a substantial discount thanks to Apple adjusting prices here in Australia.
I'll share some updated pictures once I get my new return for my desk and perhaps 1 or 2 additional peripherals too!

Make your own! it's pretty easy if you have big source images, if you have Photoshop or something similar just make the canvas size the same as the two monitors together, then crop each side when saving.
Some nice setups, folks! Only thing that changed about mine is the addition of a Fostex 4-track that I'm using to do some restoration of some old tapes. A new Mac is in my future eventually

Yeah, I prefer my work environment to be dark. But in this case, it was actually like 3am when those pictures were taken.

I agree about the window deal. Good observation. However, the vertical blind is only opened when I am in the room, and thanks to the location of my house and the shrubery outside, it is difficult for others to see. Nevertheless I am cautious of the current location and once I get my 1400x900 return for my table the arrangement of my office may change.
Oh how I love this 30" display

I usually never place a tower or alike on the table, but when I saw the beauty of it when I placed it on the table (To install some ram) and decided to keep it as is.
Funnily enough I have placed the cover back on my case, I am a bit leery of leaving it off as I sometimes do quite long extended sessions in front of my computer and I don't really want to do anything to compromise the cooling or warranty for that matter of my G5.

Mine:
two lcd monitors hooked to a dual 1.8ghz G5, controlling the IBM via chickenofthevnc. The powerbook box is for my old laptop, now dead and replaced with a 12" powerbook.
Really want another graphics card so I can leave it hooked up to the 17' monitor and the projector on the other side of the room. Until I get the rumored $500 headless mac this is my entertainment pc...

Picked this baby up from the aventura apple store this morning. Loving it.... no dead pixels.. and I can turn off the display when I want to... o yeah. Now searching for HD content... anyone know of sites for HD content that I can playback on the mac... I tried WMV-HD but I guess WMP9 doesn't have the codec.. was playing back but very slowly.
This image is too wide for inline so I just linked it.

The photography on that webpage is wonderful. Mado does a fine job. I wish I had dual 30"s for a few of the papers. I quite like that patriot flag wallpaper which was put up recently.

Here's my set up. Almost the same as before but now I've added the 12" iBook. In the next few months I'll be looking to replace my 867/G4 tower with a new G5 unit.

yes indeed. QT is fantastic for late-night food...needs. it's a 44oz cup, but if you look close you can see the 32oz cup inside it

this is 1600x1024 (i use a 22" at home and my 23" is at work, where i am not at this point in time). i assume that because you use a mac u can photoshop it to 1920x1200. if not, just reply again and i'll be happy to post again tomorrow.

thank you for a fantastic idea. my desktop is clean except for mounted volumes and one folder... so now I have created about eight solid colour backgrounds and I put them in a folder and have it alternate the backgrounds every five seconds at random.
I think it looks very cool
anyway, I just wanted to thank your iPod mini background for that idea.

Just when I was thinking I didn't have anything to contribute to this thread, I just realised I still have this old thing sitting around!
So, ladies and gentlemen put your hands together for the incredibly powerful Apple Power Macintosh 7200/120 workstation
Would be nice to replace this with a G5. Hell, a G4 400 would be a big step up
For now the 'consumer' machines will have to do me (iBook G4 and iMac G5)

nJm, awesome. At the time, the 7200/7600 case was a godsend; it was so much nicer to open than the 7100 predecessor case. But the keyboard you got with the 7200 really sucked compared to the Apple ADB Pro Keyboard.
Ah, 9.1. the memories...

You know, I think it came with Os 7.5.3 on it? Maybe 7.6. Either way I'm sure it wasn't OS 8 at that stage (1996). At the moment it is using an iMac G3's OS 9.1 installation disk so its full of unecessary stuff.
I just use it for sound recording stuff every now and then. I can't be bothered buying an iMic for the iBook when I have this old thing sitting around. It is fast enough to record 44100 16bit aiff files

this is 1600x1024 (i use a 22" at home and my 23" is at work, where i am not at this point in time). i assume that because you use a mac u can photoshop it to 1920x1200. if not, just reply again and i'll be happy to post again tomorrow.
