I like to know whether I can use a power adapter of PB1400 as an alternative for that of a firewire powerbook (pismo). A wire in the power adapter of my pismo had an electrical spark, which makes power connection not working sometimes. I called the apple to get a new power adapter which would be covered by the apple's one year warranty. A technician said the apple would send it to me but it might take 5-10 days. Before I receive it, I need an alternative for the firewire power adapter. I have a PB1400. I guess that the power adapter of PB1400 can work with Pismo. But I need a correct answer.

I'm not sure if the PB1400 adapter will work or not, but I had the exact same problem. I've been waiting for the replacement adapter for 14 days now, I called yesterday and was told that they were back-ordered.

Oh well, my Pismo makes a great paper weight with its dead battery.

A 1400 adaptor should work just fine. I don't think there would be any problems at all.

Same wattage and everything, you should have no problem at all. I've done it, early on, with my 1400 adapter and my ibook Rev A. Worked like a charm.

In fact, with the right adapter the 5300/190 power supply will work with all of those made after, until the TiBook and the new iBook.

In fact, anything that works for the 1400 will work for the Pismo (DC adapters, plane adapters, etc.) except for the Duo DC adapters and the Duo AC supplies. Some of the DC adapters and third-party Duo AC adapters (like those made by Lind) would work with the 1400, but they will NOT work with anything later than that. In fact, with the 1400 they wouldn't run it and charge the bat. at the same time, a point mentioned about.

And the only thing different about the AC adapter yoyo included with the TiBook and iceBook is that they use a smaller plug. An adapter is already available to let you use older AC adapters.
