I know there is a feature in iPhoto '08 to hide photos. Is there a way to require a password to view the hidden photos?

No, if you share your computer with your parents, you need to keep your porn stash somewhere else.

Actually, I am displaying my photos at a digital photography symposium where I want to allow people to browse through my iPhoto library without being able to see everything. If someone could give me a more constructive answer I would appreciate it. Does anyone know of any third party software that might be able to perform the task? Thanks.

I can't think of anything. That said, here's a workaround for you:
Go into whereever iPhoto keeps your library (likely Pictures). 08 keeps it as a nice little Package. Rename that to something like... "iPhoto library main." Open iphoto. It'll get confused because it can't find your library. It'll ask you to either locate the library or create a new one. Choose to creat a new one, then import the pictures you want to show off. Then, all the pictures in the library are the ones you want. When you're done, delete that library. iPhoto will ask you to choose/create, and just choose the one you renamed.
That's how I'd do it.

Or just hold down option when you launch iPhoto and tell it to "Create new library."

If you wanted to be really safe, you could make a temporary non-admin account on your computer and import your photos into that account. That would not only keep your iPhoto library safe, but also your entire account.

Actually, THAT'S probably the easiest way overall, now that I think about it.

Share the photos you want to be available in your account, log into a guest account, and view them in that.
