Hi all,
I have a 12" Rev. A Powerbook connected via Airport to an iMac DV 400 on DSL.
Internet connection sharing via Software Base Station works perfectly, with the exception of FTP.
I cannot access ftp sites, notable example being, say: ftp://ftp2.emagic.de/pub/logic/updma...inum_6.3.3.dmg
wget in Terminal tells me "could not switch to directory /pub/logic/updmac/platinum/", Safari downloads will simply timeout, and the Finder FTP won't do anything, either.
I have set FTP to passive mode in the sysprefs, I have disabled/re-enabled FTP access on both machines, disabled the Firewall on the iMac, all to no avail.
These same FTP downloads work absolutely perfectly from the iMac, so the problem must be in passing ftp on to the Powerbook.
Any other ideas?

FWIW I can grab the file using Firebird. I cannot however use regular FTP to grab the file. I get permissions errors when trying to cd through the directory tree to get at the specific file.

Hi. I have had the same problem with Panther and now Tiger - FTP simply won't work via Airport - no problem with ethernet cable connection to router or a dial-up - Just Airport - How weird?!

Westy, start a new thread when you need to reference something that old. We have a rule abut this-no more than six months old or start new.
Please start a new one and state the problem as you experience it. Not only will that make it more clear to a reader, it may get you to think about your problem in a different way, or to notice something you hadn't before.
Welcome to the MacNN Forums! Sorry you had to start off with a problem you had to dig THREE YEARS BACK to find something similar to!
