Hi all,

With the news today that Doom3 has gone gold, I'm planning on doing a few upgrades to my dual g5. I have a dual g5 1.8 with the 8 RAM slots. I have one GB of RAM and I'm planning on upgrading my video card to a Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special addition. In reading the requirements, it says there's a need to connect to the powersupply of the computer. Has anyone upgraded the 5600 that came in their machines to the 9800? Is it a chore?

THanks!

You got that wrong, it's the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac that requires an extra power connection, the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac SE is an AGP 8x Pro card and gets the power through the AGP 8x Pro slot, just slap in the card, install the drivers and go...

I take it you're not getting the Radeon X800XT due to price? The Radeon X800XT is twice as fast as any Radeon 9800.

Well, I honestly hadn't looked at any other upgrade besides the 9800 Special Edition as this is the one that they have at the Apple Store. I want to make sure I can use the ADC features of my Cinema Display.

the x800xt does have an adc slot. but it is very expensive. if u got the money do it, otherwise the 9800pro se should be fine for doom 3.
