I am teaching a film class in a room that holds forty students. It is perhaps 25-30 feet deep and 35-40 feet wide. It has a Windows computer, a projector, and two speakers. One speaker doesn't work with the computer set-up, and they're replacing everything at the end of the year (December), but nothing before then. The Windows computer stalls in the middle of each DVD.

I want to bring my 15" G4 aluminum PowerBook with the VGA connector (for the projector) and a set of reasonably portable speakers that will be sufficiently powerful to fill this room. I will be using a rolling backpack so they don't have to be ultralight speakers, but they do need to be compact and not too heavy and be loud without distortion. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you need to have self-powered speakers (built-in amplifier). Check out the Roland speakers.

Thanks. I'm looking around locally to see if they have the micro speakers. I have not found them yet.

Would these Rolands be sufficient to project well in a room perhaps 30x30 feet, or are they really for desktop use with a computer?
