Cute. I do usually start with the awful modding here, and lets not forget the snoozing admins. So here's an idea - copy a few posts, nick a familiar handle, and you can be cool too!!
Walking in the footsteps of the greats gets you dirty shoes. Get ****ing lost, loser.

I'm with both Robs here - this place has really become boring (but I have this feeling with almost all forums I used to visit).

I thought Rob was on better behavior most recently. Is this really him or a parody?

I don't know who the fake one is, it's probably Kilbey since he loves me so much. Anybody can PM me for proof. The other dude is just blatantly offensive, which hasn't been my MO for about 5-6 years. Am I pissed off? Yeah, because the mods and rules killed this place. Will I tell Analogika who is generally a cool dude who I admire for all his mad audio skills to **** off and die? Uh, no. That would be stupid.

I suppose. I thought at one point he was getting banned even when he was behaving well because of the permaban, which I assumed would piss a person off. But I could be wrong about that. Honestly, the whole Rob thing never really caught my attention back when it was fresh all those years ago. I guess I was paying attention to other things around here because the controversy passed me by, and I only really started hearing about it a while after he was banned.

If you're saying, "Hey, the moderation with regards to insta-bans for Rob have been inconsistent." I give you a "Hell yes."

I just don't have the time to post like I did before, and what time I do have I spend on my favorite occult forum and AVS. I also enjoy Head-Fi from time to time, but their moderation is some of the most draconian that I've ever encountered.

How ya boys been doing? We're still going with the no-clothes only posting policy, right?

I think it's been expanded (heh) to allow for certain assistive devices.

tech and gadgets have have just gotten boring over the years. No reason to always be waiting on the next big thing. Forums that are non tech related are still going strong. NN should have adapted to be more Lounge/political oriented since that's where most its life is.

I think that's decidedly incorrect, el chup. Tech may be boring to you but there are many other thriving forums that focus on tech. And many people specifically blame the PWL for driving people away from this place, even though I discount that claim.

I have to say that lately tech seems to be either too mainstream (with less emphasis on the tech side and more on the packaging and marketing) or too abstract (with all the emphasis on the technical aspects and no real functional application visible to most people). This drives the commoditization of tech on the one hand, and polarizes the techies away from "regular people" on the other.
I agree that Apple is no longer the niche product company it once was, and that it doesn't need a fan base to keep it afloat. But that doesn't mean that Apple products don't need an active user community to stay on top of the tricks and triumphs of the company's products.

I do think tech has gotten pretty boring. Not a lot of innovation since the iPhone. Now we're just trying to make as many variations of a glowing rectangle as possible.

You're right Rob, you're the best. Since this place is dead and we admit that you were right about everything, I guess there is nothing left for you now?
Since that has been settled, are you into Pokemon?

I think some of the people who hung around the lounge got put off for one or another reason (Poli Lounge having been one), but lately, I've come to believe that most of the regulars just eventually grew up and had lives to live (present company excluded, obviously ).
And new recruits didn't come along so much for several reasons:
1.) The main news page now lets people comment without registering for the forums.
2.) Tech developments just aren't as riveting as they were a few years ago.
3.) Apple's underdog status is passé, and the "community" as such isn't any more a "community" than any other market leader's "community"—the GM or JBL or United Airlines communities aren't really tight-knit fan bases, either.
4.) People hang out and socialize on Facebook and twitter, and tumblr, not on internet forums.

This doesn't sound like Ca$h.
He's occasionally ripped into me, and he's occasionally been apologetic, but this ain't the tone.
Unless, of course, they're BOTH Ca$h, experimenting with different persona to see who gets booted, and who doesn't.
