The only way to do it really is to play the DVR through an analog to digital converter to your Mac and record the video in iMovie or Final Cut (or equivalent). I did this last week with a three hour TV show and it worked great. But since iDVD can only put two hours onto one disc I had to make a 2 disc set.

The converter I used was a Dazzle Hollywood.

To me the simplest way is a Standalone DVD recorder like the Panasonic DMR-T6070 which has a DVr and Recorder in hte same box.
Quicksilver 867, 700mhz iBook, 1st Gen iPod, iSight, Newton 2100, and a 128k Mac. All operating and used on a constant Basis
