So the new Mini is £75(ish) cheaper than the old one in the UK. Which is nice, but then you lose the super drive, which is £75(ish) so you could say it's even stevens, but for the obvious fact that the new Mini is far better performer than the old one. But that's computers for you.

Anyway, the Mac Mini Server. Great, that's cheaper too. Buuut, the server never had a super drive. Anyway, the old price included a bundled vernon of SL Server, a £450 piece of software. The new Mini Server comes with Lion Server, a £35 piece of software. The price difference is conspicuously absent from the cost of the new Mini Server.

Nice.

Because Apple gave the old OS X Server practically away for free when bundled with the mini.

It's not hidden profit, they never made a huge profit with the mini Server in the first place.
