Hey everybody,

I'm flying into Newark Airport and need to get to the New Yorker Hotel in Manhattan to attend the PHP Conference. What's the cheapest way to get to the New Yorker Hotel? What are my options?

Thanks so much, I've never been to New York, should be fun!

Fastest and best: take a $12 shuttle bus from the airport to a drop off point in Manhattan somewhere in midtown. Go to the Newark airport website to see their schedule. From there, take the subway ($2) or a cab (about $6).

You can also take the shuttle train from the airport to the Path Train that goes into New York City, and you'll then take the subway to 8th Ave and 34th Street. But that runs about the same as the shuttle bus cost and takes longer.

The worst is to take a cab or a car service. It'll be over $30.

But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

http://www.panynj.gov/airtrainnewark/

take the AirTrain and transfer to NJ Transit (or Amtrak, but it's more expensive). they'll take you to penn station. exit on the 8th avenue side of penn station and you'll basically be across the street from the New Yorker (34th street and 8th avenue)

Will this be cheaper than the shuttle bus?

Thanks everyone!

Hey, the new yorker is a few blocks from my office. I am at 38th on 8th ave.
Any train you find will take you to penn station and from there it is a quick walk to the hotel.

Airtrain isn't incredibly convenient, you have to take an Amtrak train which is not as simple as hopping on a subway...I always take the $22 round trip bus that departs every 15 minutes from Port Authority....I think Coach/Olympia runs it. Couldn't be easier, and it's a fairly quick ride..certainly no worse than LGA if you don't hit major traffic.

Yeah, it's about the same as Chicago.

I ended up taking AirTrain to the NJ Transit system, and it got me right to NY Penn Station...and found my way perfectly.

Thanks!
