I just upgraded from 10.2 to 10.3 and I'm trying to get the webserver back up. I've spent at least 1 1/2 hrs looking for a good online tutorial or a page on trouble-shooting without any luck.

The facts:

1. I use port 1050 to go around the port that gets blocked by my ISP (I only use the web pages for personal use) and so I use a url like http://name.net:1050/
2. Web Sharing is turned on in System Settings, as is the my firewall.
3. I've turned Web Sharing and the Firewall off and on.
4. I use DynDNS to update the IP and DynDNS.org has the correct IP address (I had to restart a DNS Updater on my machine, but it didn't seem to have any problems).
5. 1050 is set up in the httpd.conf file
6. 127.0.0.1 will display my webpage.

Any advice or recommendations?

Moving from Jaguar to Panther shouldn’t, in and of itself, be a problem, assuming all other settings and configuration files are the same.

Try adding the following line to your /etc/hosts file:

127.0.0.1 name.net

and reloading the page at http://name.net:1050/

If that loads the page, the problem is in your DynDNS setting (as Apache is configured correctly and working as expected). If the page doesn’t load, the problem is likely in the Apache configuration.

Don’t forget to revert your /etc/hosts file.

Ok, I figured this out: I had confused config files and hadn't updated the correct one. The solution was to update httpd.conf's Port 80 to Port 1050, given that's the port being used to access my webserver.

Thanks for your help Rainy day.
