Hi......RtCW is an awesome game, but it will only run in OS 9 for me. My problem is as follows....game loads (SP+MP), the intro plays fine. When the intro is over, screen goes black, music plays, I hear clicks when using arrow keys. Have to force quit. Can not for the life of me figure this out (and believe me I tried).

I'm running it on a G4 867 (QuickSilver) OS X v10.1.4, 1gig ram, GeForce 3.

Could it be the version of OS X I'm running? I used to play the MP Test in 10.13 just fine. I just tried (10 min ago) the MP Test, only the screen goes white, music plays, arrow keys make clicks. Have to force quit. (No intro in Test)

Thank you in advance...

This may or may not be your problem.
But it seems the Geforce cards have some problems with RTCW/Open GL and having over 1 gig of RAM installed.
after I pulled out one of my chips, everything worked great for me...

I emailed with the Tech Support from Aspyr and they know about the 1 gig o RAM issue and are trying to find out whose problem it is and how to fix it.

if you are getting a black screen it could also be that RTCW is trying to push you into a refresh rate that is not supported by your monitor, I think you can look in your .cfg files and set a refresh rate.
Hope that helps

I am also having a problem with RtCW. I know on the bottom it say you have to have an ATI Radeon or a Nvidia GeForce. But when I bought it at the Apple Retail Store. I talked to a gamer who works there and he said it would work fine on my ATI Rage 128. But when i start playing it on the first level once i get past all the intros. It guits the game and says something about a un-supported marker.

This is on my PowerMac

I do not think that it is an issue with RAM. I have 1.5GB RAM and RtCW runs fine on the Nvidia Geforce 4Titanium. Did you install RtCW under 9 or X??

I mean it says it runs natively in X, so that's where I installed it.

It won't run with OSX versions greater than 10.1.2. Its the combination of OS,GF3 and >=1Gb RAM. No open GL app will work, try Quake III etc.

I hope apple address this. I am getting seiously hacked off with the GF3: its costs a fortune, some of the key features still aren't implimented a year after release and now it doesn't even run the games its supposed to, Jaguar has a lot to live up to...

They laughed at my Mac, it had no CLI. They laughed at Linux, it had no GUI. I installed MacOS X, and shut them up.

The problem isn't 10.1.4 guys, it's the combination of 10.1.4(0r 10.1.3) and GeForce 3 cards...at least that's what I make of it

The bug only occurs with exactly 1Gb of RAM. Give or take a couple of megabytes and Quake 3/RtCW work fine.

By the way, I did forget to mention that, yes, I do have the Apple OEM Geforce 3.

Well if you sent me the 512 ...

Would 256 from a cube work? Also I was wondering, this problem doesn't occur with a Radion does it?

I think I'll swap out some memory and see what happens.

I'll keep you guys posted on the results.

Thanks again for all your help!
