I cannot find the area in the system profiler (or elsewhere) on my 4 year old ibook that details when the computer was built. I have the latest version of OS X. Thanks in advance.

Maybe the serial number is so old it's in a format that it can't understand?

Coconutidentity gave wrong info for me, too, on the iBook and my own old TiBook. So, it seems that that program has some problems. But thanks for the link!

The serial number... the third character is the year and the next two is the week in that year.... so... JS4350932WRX would be build in the 35th week of 2004.

Thanks for all the help, folks! I sent an email to Small Dog (from whom it was purchased), and they sent me a copy of the invoice. Good service!
