how long a computer has been awake?

i know how to find the "uptime" of a computer, but i'd like to find out how long it's been on just since the last wake from sleep.

thanks in advance for any ideas!

I don't know of anything that does this already but I would be very easy to write a Konfabulator widget to do it for you... In fact I might even give it a try when I get home tonight. Let me know if you're interested.

Wesley,

a widget would certainly work.

is the information on when the computer "woke up" easily available somewhere, or would your widget somehow sense the wakeup and start a counter?

thanks,
-LK

applications->utilities->Terminal

open the Terminal app and type uptime
hit enter
I can hear the goose-steps getting closer.

Ok people I am proud to announce the Awaketime widget:

It does exactly what you requested except it only starts counting from when you first launch it. Once it is running it counts in days/hours/minutes. If you put your computer to sleep the count is reset (takes a little while (<30 secs) to update) to zero. There is a preference to enable the Aqua drop shadow.

Note this hasn't been extensively tested as it was written today I believe it works but you never know. If you find any possible bugs let me know. I am open to feature requests but there is no guarantee I will actually try and implement them. Once I'm happy it works I will submit it to the Konfabulator website.

You may download it from here ~55kb

Enjoy,
Wesley
