Macbook hard drive upgrade question...

Hey every1,
Sorry if this has been touched on before, but I just upgraded my 13 inch macbook hard drive from 80gb to 160gb and I was wondering if it is really necessary to replace the L-shaped bracket/ram door like apple states in its manual. If so why, and what kind of problems would the computer have if its not replaced by a new one? Increased fan speed perhaps? Thanks for any input guys!

My macbook runs fine after the upgrade. Im just wondering why apple says you need to replace it rather than reuse it. They say in the manual your computer will not run properly but they are not very clear on why or how. Guess im just a little curious on why this is...

Without seeing the actual wording i think they mean replace the L bracket that you've removed to gain access, not actually buy a new one.

Yeah your probably right, I think im just used to seeing the word "replace" in all of my helicopter manuals and going about it as if I am actually working on a turbine engine or something lol. im a helicopter technician btw. Sorry for the confusion and thanks!
