Grey palm rests to match the iPod? I smell BS.

Yeah, I'm smelling it too.

The Khalif sounds a bit too 'Al Qaeda' and the omission of Gigabit Ethernet makes zero sense if it's part of the Intel chipset Apple has been using so far - even on the $599 mini.

Palm rests are already greyish on the iBook compared to the white outside.

60 and 80 gig hard drives on the MacBooks? We've got the option to go up to 100 gigs on the current iBook.

I think this Khalif is just adding up all the rumors, and posting them as fact.

Yea, I have a hard time believing it won't support gigabit ethernet... Apple would have to go out of their way to disable it in the driver.

Looks like Khalif read your post - this is out there now:

"UPDATE: Correction, our Californian spy said the MacBook would have Gigabit Ethernet not 10/100BASE-T."

Kinda destroys his credibility.

Bull. Right after you guys posted the link to the 'information' I already pointed out that 100Mb Ethernet makes zero sense. It took another 5 hours for the 'update' to be posted. The so called 'spy' isn't even smart at predicting specs.

It wouldn't be the first time they went out of their way to disable a feature on a lower end model to make it more different than the the higher end one.

Example is Screen Spanning on the iBook. From the factory they won't, but all you have to do is install a simple hack and it enables it.

Yeah, they did that. But now the deal's that the $599 Mac mini even supports Gigabit. So it certainly doesn't look like they're trying to deactivate the chipset's Gigabit capability on driver level.

Simon young padawan, Eug posted about the update 17 minutes before mduell.

Above the black line is Eug's post in the Lounge. Below the black line are the posts here. Look at the times

I hope the Black ones are all Black...even the keys. That would be very cool. I wonder if the casing will be glossy like the current white iBooks?

I posted two similar, but slightly different comments in two threads. If Eug quoted me, I had to have posted first.

The first time you asked in the lounge it was about ten minutes before Eug responded with the updated info that I also read shortly before you posted. Simon has some idea that the update was five hours LATER. It's insane how sites like that and Think Secret get attacked when they reveal great stuff sometimes. iPod Hub was the first site on the net to report several news items (Blu-ray iPod content, Casino Royale trailer etc) before anyone else.

Four hours later the 'hot leaked specs' were updated. My God. The guy who invented this 'leak' this is a) an idiot and b) not very original. And if you still don't understand it, well then, try this:

Obi, for the very last time:

- this stupid ipodlounge site posts some blurb about a 'leak' and mentions 100Mb Ethernet
- you guys post the link to this 'hot story' here
- I go there, read it and notice that it's bull, partly because 100Mb makes zero sense
- I call BS on this board
- 4h later mduell concurs
- I go back to check their site and oh miracle - their 'hot California spy The Khalif woohoo' has updated his specs

What can be learned:
- The Khalif is twelve and would like to talk to a girl
- The Khalif is a phony but he's not even smart enough to create plausible specs
- The Khalif reads this board
- The Khalif thinks he can 'update' the leak info and get away with it
- You actually fell for it so you get to wear today's tin foil hat

No, really, you've been taken for a ride. It was fun while it lasted, now the show's over. Enjoy your weekend!

Man, I seriously hate when people do this. I read a post like this when it comes out earlier in the day, and I get my hopes way, WAY up. Then it turns out to be a huge joke. It really bothers me because I keep waiting for these MacBooks to come out.

IS THERE ANY TRUE NEWS ON WHEN THESE MACBOOKS ARE BEING RELEASED?!?!
(and how much?
)

More rumours here. No hard facts until it's actually out though.
