I ordered a refurb from Apple. $350 plus tax. Can anybody tell me what to expect?

I knew that.

I mean should I expect scratches, bad battery life, etc?
(And I already have a 40GB iPod. This one is for the wife.)

It should be exactly as new, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was very slight cosmetic damage. Still, it's meant to be used, yes?

I have heard that they're "offloading" though, so it may well be brand new...

That's a pretty good deal - if I may ask a question (not to hijack your thread) - but what generation are those? *general Mac newbie*

Not really. I recently bought a refurb 20GB iPod, and it came in a plain brown box.

Refurbed 40GB for $400, now that's pretty good. I wish I had done that instead of paying 475 or whatever at Amazon...

Well, here's the bad news. My 30GB iPod is dead. It arrived fine, was boxed fine, all the parts were there, it was unscratched, etc.

Hook it up... it would not mount or sync or otherwise appear on the FW bus.

I confirmed the dock was bad also.

I called Apple, they confirmed it, and sent me a return tag. I ordered another one. Stay tuned to see if that one is any better.
