Privacy is a major concern in my workplace. I have ARD installed on a bunch of machines. Want to know if there is a setting where the user can grant access to the tech wanting to control it. And that the tech can only gain access is allowed by the user. Some sort of "knock knock" setting?

Thank you.

Looking at the preferences there is a "Show When Being Observed". Not what you were asking but at least the person using the computer would know when you're connected.

Yeah..not good enough.

Boss is threatening to pull ARD from all Macs due to this issue. He allows remote desktop for the XP machines, but not for the Macs. I don't get it.

Can't afford Timbuktu....hmmm

You can *disable* remote desktop for all specific users in the Sharing control panel of that machine, but allow Guests to ask for permission to control the desktop.

That *might* do what you're looking for?
