Wow, a 10lber! Congrats man!

Take him to the batting cage, next week. Won't be long before he's playing for the Cubs.

If he actually goes to a batting cage, he'll be way past the Cubs' practicing ability...

Congrats!

Now begins the time of no sleep. Just hold in 4-5 months, and he'll sleep through the night.

Hey Ricky, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I had missed the lead up to this one-kinda busy lately. But TODAY my son is (shudder!) 19! Wow. Just wow. We never thought he'd make it to 7-we figured we'd have throtled him long before that. Now he's 19, has a whole year of college behind him and his life is wide open. Who'd a thunk it.

Congrats again, and enjoy those baby times. I miss 'em.

Maintaining a schedule is good, but be prepared for the fact that once you're comfortable with a schedule, the little one will change it on you!

Definitely, but that is part of the game/battle that makes being a parent fun in my opinion. After-all, if it was that easy, I would get bored quickly.

So I was a little afraid of how our dog (Toy Poodle) would react around Dylan and adapt to him being in the house and most of the attention being directed at the baby instead of the dog...well, I think this picture sums it up nicely:

Every time Dylan cries, the dog will actually come over to him and want to kiss him. It's just adorable to say the least, I'm very happy thus far with how the two have interacted around each other. Barking on the other hand for the dog....well, that is still a small issue that needs to be worked on a little bit more.

*Insert the sounds of almost everyone on the internet going "Aaaawwwwhhhhhh" simotaniously (sp?) here*

Ya' know....I have a sneaking suspiscioin Dylan is going to be the first kid to be partially raised by an online tech forum. Who knows maybe if this idea catches on on his birthday we can all send him a small gift. How sweet would that be, waking up on your birthday and having all these gifts from all over the world.

Beautiful picture, Rickey. When our son was born, we had a German Shepherd mix dog-about 80 pounds of blond wolfie. He was introduced with Matt in his cradle, and it was wonderful to see. Andy (the dog) moved up very slowly, very carefully and ever so slightly sniffed over Matt. His tail didn't even wag hard-just a little bit of a gentle wag. Andy was so good with kids...

Our current shepherd, Lobo, is that way too. Dogs tend to be great with kids, good, well trained dogs, anyway.

Well, it's been almost 2 weeks now and I can already see major differences in Dylan's life. Being a bigger baby, his head and neck muscles are very good and he holds his head up without any issues. On the flip side of that though, is that he tosses and turns when sleeping and sometimes tosses to one side and cannot get back. Due to that, we've had to put into place a simple "bed positioner" that keeps him on his back by placing bumpers on the sides of his body. He doesn't seem to mind that one bit.

Speaking of sleep, he is doing extremely well for a newborn. Often averaging 4-5 hours of straight sleeping on most nights, which is excellent!

We've learned that we need to supplement his feedings from time to time with 2 oz. of formula due to his size as well, since he needs to eat a lot to gain weight each week. My wife has been wonderful through all the tough, and VERY often feedings all the time, but they have a nice schedule worked out now it seems.

Anyway, that is the latest in Dylan's life for now!

Well done rickey man! He's a gorgeous wee lad and sounds like you're all doing brilliantly! It seems so long ago that our daughter was only a month old, but it really wasn't!

Keep up the good work, keep us up to date on the wee fella

Dylan and Santa highly enjoyed the occasion actually, it was hysterical. Notice, he isn't crying like the other babies in line both before and after were.
