Zooey DeChannel's mesmerizing good looks aside.....
The colors are very Royal Tenenbaums, very off beat. Reading the back of the DVD case put me off completely, seemed like your average mainstream chick flick cliche bs. Zooey reeled me in.....
The story is ...well kinda predictable, but the great thing about this movie is the way it's presented. The acting, directing, sets, cinematography, etc... Are all great. It's refreshingly unique. The soundtrack is awesome, which I will be picking up soon.

If you liked Chasing Amy and High Fidelity, check this one out....that's not to say it's anything like those movies per se, just a similar style/tone/humor...

Enjoy!

I love this movie. Saw it this summer; as a film it's a bit boring, but it does show the way that girls treat guys these days.

It would be so much better without that goofy chick in it.

By the way, have you heard her music? Wow, they should use that stuff to extract info down at Gitmo.

I liked it because it made me seem less creepy and obsessive by comparison.

I actually thought the movie was quite trite, and it was so over-the-top indie in every scene it made me want to vomit.

Zooey is a looker, yes, but she couldn't save a dreadfully predictable and woefully quirky movie from self-implosion. I agree with Finboy on the music too, in fact, I pretty much despise indie sh!t nowadays.

Not my kind of film. Boring and pretentious.

Just the presentation, it struck me as pretentious.

Saw it some time during the summer, I think. Neat little flick, none too memorable, but nice enough. Didn’t strike me as particularly indie or pretentious, though—quite the opposite, actually. Seemed very un-indie to me, more yuppie-ish, and the pretentiousness was counter-balanced by the guy going from highs to lows and back again every five minutes.

I agree with Finboy on the music too, in fact, I pretty much despise indie sh!t nowadays.
You should have joined me for Iceland Airwaves all last week, then.

I thought the guy did a great job, I felt for him. And the movie certainly is realistic with respect to guy feelings, and relationships, and how they can hurt you and even.stop.time.altogether... .

But I watched the movie after 3-4 months of listening to She & Him (or whatever her group's name is) every other day at Borders (working on a table in the coffee shop there). I heard one of the songs again the other day in Target and wanted to claw my ears off. OMG.

(Don’t click that, by the way, if NSFW-ness is of any concern—the form of the URL has apparently not escaped the domain’s purchasers, and it redirects to adult.is, which, strangely enough, is the web site for Adam & Eve, a Reykjavík adult store that I passed just this morning.)

To be fair, I don't think I gave the film a proper chance, but I just wasn't into it. It's like trying to read a book that doesn't hold your attention - in my case I find it very hard to get through.

I like the movie.
Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer
June 2001: 132,047,000 employed
June 2003: 129,839,000 employed
2.21 million jobs were LOST after 2 years of Bush Tax Cuts.

Just watched the movie again, and i still like it . I did notice that the costumes, lighting and some of the sets are very "English"/"Australian".... the bar/pub scenes look very similar to the pubs around where i am.

Some of you think it's pretentious(mistaken for "artsy"?)...i thought it was sort of humorously parodying pretentiousness(?). Either way i picked up the soundtrack on iTunes. The CD has 16 tracks, but iTunes has 19, so if you are thinking of getting it, iTunes has a couple of bonus tracks.

Cheers
