Hey,

Before I ask my question, I must point out that I just recently started using a mac (powerbook) for college, so please don't be too pissed if my question is a bit elementary.

Anyways - Constantly, when I download programs and applications on OSX (I have a powerbook g4) the downloaded files turn up as "paper" icons/word documents. For example, if I try to download any program, once downloaded, it will turn up on my desktop as a word document, and when I try to open it, it will only open through microsoft office (when I do this, dozens of pages of codes show up on word).

Is there a way to actually get to the programs I download when they turn up like this? According to the download pop-up, the full file IS, in fact, downloaded - It just shows up as a word file (for some reason)

If there's any way that someone could help me here, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh, and for extra info, the files in question are usually .exe

.exe are Windows applications. You can't run those on a Mac.

You have to run Mac versions of the respective application. Speaking of applications …
