Opinions?

That was probably the most forced, uncomfortable, and awkward apology I've ever heard. Every word was so deliberate and unnatural, I'm not sure what to think of it.

Watching it live was very, very odd. What do you guys think?

He plays golf or something, right? I'm currently getting all of the sports diva behavior I need from the Olympics.

Apparently most of the press was kept at arms length for this announcement. Wouldn't you know it, those sticklers for journalistic principle, the Golf Writers Association of America, don't like it. This is Pulitzer material.

It’s a numerology thing. Don’t ask.

On topic:

This again? Didn’t this ridiculous non-issue die on its own ages ago? Why does anyone care?

I can think of 2 entities that care: Tiger and Nike. Both have millions upon millions of dollars at stake. The rest of us just love the celebrity dirt. Nummy!

11 is a position sorta like 69... it involves two people standing perfect straight right next to one another and not touching. It's all about the anticipation.

My opinion? I wish the media would stop wasting time on this kind of garbage. I couldn't care any less if I made a serious effort at it. What a huge nonissue. I was stuck in traffic waiting for an accident to clear, I heard this announcement (twice) compared to the State of the Union Address by the (alleged) "radio personality". Seriously?

He never should of stopped playing golf after his accident. He should of kept playing through it all. This is nothing but saving his obligations to his investors and endorsements. It was sickeningly scripted and rehearsed.

His only mistake was getting married so early in life.

"I knew my actions were wrong but I convinced myself that the normal rules didn't apply..... I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt that I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn't have to go far to find them."
Of course he was entitled to that.
He went from zero to a billion on his own. That's the sort of accomplishment that earns a man a harem. He certainly did nothing that called for going in for sex rehab.

The world is littered with examples of people who felt entitled to using groupies and are still revered despite their indiscretions. JFK, MLK, Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, all people who are only spoken of in positive terms and generally their cheating only illicit a shrug.

He should have just kept his mouth shut and dealt with this between him, his family and maybe their lawyers.

Exactly! You are absolutely right!

IMHO, the fact he did not go with that from the start makes him look like a big pu$$y.

He has enough money to not give rats ass about what anybody thinks, period.

If Tiger wanted to make history, rake in millions, and sleep around with mediocre women, that is his business. I don't think any of his sponsors would have reacted badly to that.

There are two things that contribute to Tiger's story blowing up:

1. He was a married father of two. If Tiger wanted to sleep around, then WHY DID HE EVER GET MARRIED? The fact that he did all this while in a committed relationship makes him look like an unfaithful jerk, but add in the two kids, and he looks like a completely self-centered, unfaithful jerk. The revelation that some of this allegedly took place while Elin was pregnant...not helping.

Tiger should still be single. I don't agree with the lifestyle personally, but that isn't a news story. The story is that he ensured that his children will likely hear taunts about their father sleeping around on their mom for the rest of their lives. It's a sad truth, but all they'll have to do is look at his Wikipedia page for the whole story one day.

2. Tiger is a golfer. Despite Tiger single-handedly broadening the demographics of the golfing audience, it's still dominated by a traditional, white collar audience. Golfers are still expected to be courteous family men. They're supposed to seek out their wife and children as soon as they win a tournament, kiss the wife in front of the cameras, and hold their children for the rest of the day.

Whether it's fair or not, Tiger is getting blasted by the golfing world (Ernie Els took a shot at him today, apparently), probably due to jealousy, but also due to the fact that his actions weren't very "golfer-like."

Do you remember Michael Jordan's infidelity being a huge shocker? Charles Barkley? Even Kobe's trouble in Colorado didn't center around the fact that he was cheating on his wife; it was all about the rape allegations. If the woman had come out and said, "I had sex with Kobe," the rest of the world would have responded, "So?"

No one is going to feel bad for Tiger. Even without the endorsements he lost, he's still rich beyond belief. He's still the best golfer the world has ever seen. And even if his wife divorces him, he's shown he has no problems finding companionship. Tiger's going to be fine. It's not like he cared what the other PGA Tour golfers thought about him anyways.

I'm just stunned that everyone is as shocked about this story as they are. OF COURSE Tiger was cheating!

Unrelated, but I quote Bill Simmons' tweet from earlier today: "I can't believe Nike killed Tiger and replaced him with a robot. Why isn't this a bigger deal?"
