Who started this? Is it a MacNN thing? BBQ? A wider Intarweb fad? I'm always behind on these things. I didn't hear about "All your base" until everyone else was sick of it. Same with "OMG TEH WINNAR!!!!!1111oneoneone". So does the fact that this fad has reached me mean that it's already tiresome? Somebody fill me in.

the first time i did it, i did it because it would obviously be funny to change a few words in a quote. can't say i'd seen it done before, but i'm sure loads of other people had to same idea.

It's been going on for years. I would say the first time I have seen it was back over at the ihateapple.com forums in the late 90s. It didn't originate here.

I could tell you where it all comes from...but...nah.

(And yes, by the time it reaches MacNN, it's beyond tiresome. Hell, it should be against federal law by that time.)
