Nice little addition to iChat. Too bad Apple didn't think about auto replies when they developed iChat.

I installed this and got all kinds of errors (see post on Problems with iChat elsewhere). I removed the files, it was fixed.

Ok. So. I'm rather perplexed.
I set it to "Manual," and what does it send?
Not my typed in message, but instead the following:
"I am in blood / Stepped in so far that, should I wade no more, / Returning were as tedious as go o'er."
?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!
I changed the setting, and now everything works quite nicely
but... anyone care to explain?!

I think this happens in all software at some time or another. Usually you'll get to some point where you need to display an error message or check some case, so you just add something like "I should really add an error message here... nah" or a quote from Macbeth.
Also, since I'm in a tedious mood, emailing isn't the right word for IM - it doesn't embody the instant part IM, that it's a conversation more than letters being sent back and forth ala email.
Plus, you can always just say your son or something was practicing his Macbeth lines for the school play and got carried away. At least it doesn't send ascii porn or something

Yeah yeah, so I made a typo, yes it is an instant message.
The difference between what you describe is the message the old Eudora would give you when you type when no window is open, which is something like "You're typing, but no one's listening," and what this does is send IMs to people who write to you, appearing that you wrote it.
Imagine this, you're significant other just writes that she/he was fired or she's pregnant (ok, that one's not going to come over IM), or something else of importance and then it writes back to them appearing that you wrote "I am in blood / Stepped in so far that, should I wade no more, / Returning were as tedious as go o'er."
The point is that it makes people think you typed something you didn't. I would not be happy if my CEO, who I IM with, wrote me about something and that went back, or if my wife wrote that she loved me.
