I have a G5 with a 9600xt (soon to be a 6800 ), and I'd like to give my current card to a friend when the new one comes. But he has a MDD G4. Is it true that you can't move the card?

there is a way to do it with the regular 9600 that just requires taping some pins on the agp. If it doesnt use agp pro ( like the fx 5200) it will most likely work.

I've done it to a standard 9600 by taping pins 3 and 11. I have read about users posting about their use of the 9600XT with their MDD powermac on xlr8yourmac, so my guess is that it will be ok.

enjoy the 6800.

Is ATI working on a native G4 version of the 9600?

I have a flashed 9700 I would be happy to trade for that 9600 XT.

Twice the rendering pipelines, should be faster than 9600XT.

Is DVI-I and VGA, works like a champ in my Quiksilver.

Can even run at 8X AGP in a G5.

I have done mods to a 9600 Pro and want to try with XT. I created ADC connector and RAM sinks. I even added fan by tossing a resistor on and some pins, power is already running to posts. I O/C'd it to 480/340 !!!

I have a 9600 PRO from an original G5 2.0 that I would like to move to a G4 MDD, but from what I read it seems to be different than the 9600XT. Can anyone confirm? First problem for me is that the 9600 PRO phyically doesn't fit in the G4.
