Hi everyone,
I have a pretty strange problem! I needed to create a poster (59 cm x 84 cm) and I made a simple drawing in Illustrator, put the Illustrator file into InDesign and added some typography. Somehow, when I export the file, it is 50 KB. Somehow, the file looks not bad :-? Is that normal? How large should it be? Where did I go wrong?
Greetings,
PeterParker

If you did the drawing in Illustrator, it's a vector drawing, which is really tiny, file-size wise. Type shouldn't boost the file size too much, either. Still, that's a really low file size.
What is the output resolution? If you're making the art to be printed, it should be set to 300dpi. 50k makes me think you have the output resolution set really low, like screen resolution or something.
FWIW, you could have skipped using InDesign and done everything in Illustrator.

"put the illustrator file in Indesign"
Was it an EPS?
As thorzdad said, i would check your illustrator export settings.
What will the poster be used for?

I know nothing about InDesign, Illustrator is my axe.
In Illustrator, one can get an idea if an asset is low resolution by just zooming in and seeing how it renders. Would that work in InDesign?

Indesign has several preview modes. Sometimes for speed the imported images are set to low preview just so they don't slow down the page render. That doesn't mean they will print badly.
