hi

i have an Apple iBook G3 366mhz (firewire) Indigo

On Apple-history.com it says the maximum memory is 320mb.

Will I be able to install a 256mb chip (or two)?

because I'm unable to find two 160mb modules

That model has 64MB on the logic board, and a max of 576MB. There is only one RAM slot.

You need to look for a 512MB PC66 3.3V 144-pin SO-DIMM.

(Info taken from Mactracker.)

You will have to use an external drive. I think this can be done over FW target disc mode but I'm not sure.

10.4 was released in two versions: CD and DVD. Look around for the CD version, although I don't know what kind of luck you'll have.

Firewire disk mode will probably be easier.

only problem is Tiger needs a minimum of 256mb ram -anyone think the ibook will still run it with 160mb?

Mactracker.ca

Get Mactracker for all of this kind of arcane info about Macs. I use it all the time at my job fixing Macs.
