Hi all I have an old perfect HP Laserjet 5L, I bought an USB to Printer converter, and I try to use the GimpPrint drivers. but it does not want to work.
Any ideas are welcome

You need to be a lot more specific than "does not want to work". Provide the procedures you have done, the tests you did, the error messages you got, etc.

Ok here you are:
I open System Preferences -> Print & Fax and try to add the printer With the Line Printer Deamon selected, I select then the Gimp Print beta 2 for Hp laserjet 5 series and it returns back error -50.
Same error if I use the Jet Direct Socket.
Remember that I am using an serial to USB adaptor, I don't even know if this is the problem

You might want to try an ethernet print server instead. Those tend to be more compatible than USB adapters.

I know this, but if it runs in this way I don't have to spent money

Return the USB adapter and exchange it for an ethernet print server. I've seen the latter for as little as $30US on store shelves.

I picked up a jetdirect network card for my Laserjet 5 on ebay from about $15, that would be a cheap way to do it.
