eBay.

But I also had the highest-paid student position on the entire campus...network administrator for our publications department, so that helped out a lot of course.

i actually tried that and even still have an account with pokerroom.net

i haven't lost money, i think i am still even, but it moves so slow and is such a roller coaster. plus, i would have to find one stationed outside of the US right? isn't online gambling illegal now in the US?

i'm thinking of buying tickets to events and then reselling them on ebay. my first try at this is the Justin Timberlake concert...have some floor seats for the show in boston i'm gonna put up eventually. this is what my cousin recommends. turn around time sucks, and you have to know what shows will be good, but he makes like $200 off each show

What college do you go to? Depending on the sports culture, you can probably flip some sporting event tickets on eBay and make some money as well.

Nope. Only sports betting or other gambling where you can't determine the outcome through your own skill. Poker involves your using a personal skill, so AFAIK it's not banned under the recent legislation.

I played stocks on the sideline. Through that, I paid my own books and my parents paid for my tuition. I also tutored math mainly.

I work 20 hrs/week doing Mac tech support. It's nice because I just show up between classes and work on homework (or browse MacNN) and get really good pay for it.

Go apply at the Dana Robes shop as a woodworker's assistant or apprentice. They're in Enfield. Either way, you should go and just look at the awesome furniture them make there.

I thought the reason is because with Poker, you're betting against each other, not against an establishment.

at various points in college, sometimes overlapping:

computer lab assistant (ie, fixing printers and telling people which way to put the floppy in)
tutor for copy and proof
english dept assistant (answering phones, making copies)
designer for student events dept (making flyers/posters/tent cards for parties and such)
calligrapher (someone had to put the names on all the certificates handed out)
art director for student newspaper (whopping $500 per year!)
and on breaks at home: switchboard operator for hospital. Paid the best out of all of them.

I'm a system administrator for a company. I used to work summers, and then spend down my savings over the school year.

Got two jobs:

1. At a small company called Tarius, where I help collate, translate, abstractise, and key in some of all the documents offered in the final product into the database.

2. At an alarm central called SOS. This one’s by far the better of the two—it pays better, and I enjoy it more.

I worked summer and winter breaks as an EMT.
During the year I worked for dining services and in the audio visual department of the student union building.

All fun. None paid really well and I only took the school jobs to buy myself an ipod, but ended up buying one for my dad instead. Then I bought myself an ibook and an ipod and kept working.

you have quite a few choices....

- stripping
- being a ''note-taker'' where you basically sit in classes you're not enrolled in and take notes for people who hate going to that class & get paid for it
- tutoring elementary school kids near your university
- here's an idea which i probably should't post since it will take up a bit of time. at the end of the year at uni, thousands of students graduate and have to move away. some end up selling all of their furniture either at a ''garage sale'' or through craigslist. now some of these students end up throwing away half their stuff because they run out of time. how about you rent out a public storage space and offer to buy these supplies from students who are in a bind and in turn....sell them yourself with a hefty markup. i'd do it if i were still in college. but that's just me

Ditto. And papers. Of course, this was in the early 90s when most students didn't own a computer. I charged $1 per page when professional services were charging $2 per page.

Plus I printed them on an inkjet printer instead of crappy dot matrix. People thought my StyleWriter was amazing.

Never know until you ask. And if she liked it, then, well JACKPOT!

I worked at the electronics departments of OfficeMax and Staples for a while, did freelance design work, some Mac consulting (when the iMac first came out, I made good money showing people how to set up their iMac for the internet, etc.)

You could always go for the old reliables - waiting tables and tending bar (great skill to have - seriously!) My wife was a waitress and made good money doing it. And my best friend tends bar to this day. Actually, he owns a bar, now.

Granted we don’t actually have frat houses, much less frat parties, in this part of the world—but still, I wasn’t aware female students were in the habit of giving away their ova at such functions.

Live and learn, I guess.
