Best DL burner for 1.5GHz PB?

I'm going to be in my PB soon replacing an HD and thought I'd upgrade from combo to DL burner. Recommendations appreciated, hopefully more specific than "buy the Panasonic" or whatever, because I'm going to be hunting Pricegrabber using model numbers.

Many thanks in advance.

Get a Pioneer DVR-K06. This will fit into the older PowerBooks (not the new MBP), it is considerably better than the Matsushita/Panasonic drives that you usually get from Apple. Specs here. PriceGrabber or Froogle for prices, about $80 US. You may need to install into a PC laptop to switch from Slave -> Master using the Pioneer firmware for max compatibility however.

I'm anti-region locking, the Pioneers let you read raw off the DVD disc so VLC works fine. The Matsushita/Panasonics don't, plus they're amazingly picky about media. The Pioneers reliably do 4x burns on most media from my experience (or 5.5x with the up to 8x burning), whereas the Matsushita/Panasonic pretty much has issues on newer media depending on how old the drive is (ie, burns at slower speeds, doesn't let you burn, etc).

I recently installed a Pioneer DVR-K05 in my AL867 PowerBook. It is great, I had been using it as an external, but decided to upgrade it during a HD replacement as well. It fits, though barely. Be patient, it's tight in there and it takes some deep breathes to get the alignment correct, and frames to fit well.
I might be telling you something you already know, but figured I would mention it anyway. Good Luck!
