I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.2 and QuickTime 7.4.1. Embedded movies only show the toolbar (like if I go watch a trailer at Apple's QuickTime website), and movies that I play from my HDD only come up as a white screen with no audio.

I have no extra media extensions for QuickTime. I've tried reinstalling the 10.5.2 combo update and QuickTime 7.4.1. Neither has resulted in being able to view movies.

Since when does it do that? And if you open the Info window of QuickTime Player, what codec does it tell it uses?

It'd have to be the last time I did an update a couple weeks ago.

Encoded and delivered by apple.com/trailers
H.264 Decoder, 320x136, Millions, AAC, Stereo (L R) 44.100 kHz

OK, weird. If I Save as a QuickTime movie I can't play it. It just shows up as a white screen.

If I save as "source," I can open it.

Embedded movies don't play.

It's probably a corrupted file in your user's Library.

I just installed 7.4.5 and they still aren't playing.

I'll try creating a new user, test Big Mac's theory.

Creating a new user fixed it. Looks like one of the updates borked my usr folder.

The same thing happened on my iBook years back. I'm not sure what file caused the problem though.
