Right, I know there are posts on this thing already....but...

Mine is a bit different.
I have OSX (panther) on an external disc. This was just to try out before installing it on mu Powerbook.

I now want to get rid of the panther on the external drive.
Am I right to just trash:

Applications
Developer
Library
System
Users

On this drive?
Will this take away everything of panther, or do I need to start fiddling with the terminal to find other files/folders?

The drive is so big that I cannot back it up somewhere else and do a formatting of the drive...unfortunately.

Cheers guys!

No that won't remove all of Panther. Theres all sorts of hidden files and directorys in the root of the volume.

I'd use the Terminal to delete the files I don't need using the rm command. For example on my system I have the following files relating to the operating system in the root of my drive:

Applications
Users
Desktop DB
Volumes
mach_kernel
Desktop DF
automount
private
File Transfer Folder??
bin
sbin
Library
cores
tmp
Network
dev
usr
etc
var
System
mach

You may have all or some of the above but they can all be deleted if you want Panther (or any other version gone) without reformating.
