OK, this one caught my eye.

Lucy trailer (Aug 8, 2014)

Luc Besson at the helm (writer / director). My take: it'll be really good unless it comes out really bad. Nothing in between.

Are there any really bad Luc Besson films? I haven't seen them all, but I haven't seen one that wasn't brilliant in its way.

At the end of The Fifth Element I had to ask myself why the **** I just watched that. Even with all the pretty in it.

Hmmmm...Normally, whenever I hear the "we only use x% of our brain" trope trotted-out in a movie, I tend to run away quickly, because what follows is rarely good. But, this looks fun, if nothing else. And ScarJo! I'd rent it.

I ask myself every time I watch it, and every time the answer I hear is "because it is ****ing awesome". And then I watch it again.

Yeah. That's the kinda shit which got me to do it the first time. I've learned my lesson.

I just went through Luc Besson's filmography and I had no idea how much I like the guy:
- Léon: The Professional (just watched for the first time this week, coincidentally)
- Fifth Element
- Kiss of the Dragon (wore out my VHS watching those fight scenes)
- Transporter 1/2/3 (Well...1 and 2 were good...)
- Taken 1/2 (Well... 1 was good)

Yeah he's weird but I like him as well. 5th Element FTW, but Léon (and Gary Oldman in particular) is timeless.

I can't believe you only now saw Leon. That's such a good one.
Don't forget about Nikita (aka La Femme Nikita), which was probably the first film of Besson's I saw. I recommend it highly.

I'll watch it tonight. I've been stuffed in hotel rooms all day for about 3 weeks straight now so I'm really digging around for stuff to do. That's why I watched Leon.

Subway is quite cool in a low budget 80's way. The Merc/Pug 205 opening chase is pretty awesome.
The Big Blue is great if you have a lazy afternoon. The soundtrack is fab and the underwater photography is really well done.It's the reason I learnt to dive.
The 5th Element is just bonkers, but in a highly entertaining way
Joan of Arc is pretty good as well, but Jean Reno lifts every film he is in.
Nikita is just plain awesome.

You know, if you're looking to burn time, the TV series is good in a cheesy way. Excellent use of mind screw for a 90's show. If you watched Alias, a lot of it was cribbed from Nikita. 24 also shares some lineage (and some of the same actors... like Alberta Watson, who is the Queen of mind screw).

oh yes. Had wiped that from my mind. I do now remember shouting go UP!! GO UP!! at the screen a lot when Godzilla was chasing the Apache through the city.
