Do you think that Apple will release any more enhancements to our current OS as we come closer to the release of Panther?

Specifically two things that I'm looking for are:

1. Better, more robust Safari browser
2. More efficient OpenGL implementation (to make gameplay better)

There might be one more since 10.3 is still more than a few months away. If not then we will just have to wait til 10.3

I'm betting if it weren't for the USB problems introduced in 10.2.5, that would have been the last update. I think most of the major bugs in 10.2 have been squashed and Apple will be focusing on 10.3 from here on out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a security update or something tho'...

USB bugs are far-from-squashed right now.

As it is, I still have to unplug & re-plug different peripherals on a daily basis when they "Stop responding". It's mostly the keyboard/mouse combo that need the replugging, but other devices occasionally crap-out on me.

The mouse response still stalls & sputters while the USB chain "scans" or does whatever the hell it does now. I can't even drag a marquis in Photoshop without it dropping-out on me. It's getting VERY annoyin, frustrating and cutting-in on my productivity... so I truly HOPE there's a service update before 10.3 to smoothe-out this USB snafu.

Yeh 10.2.6 didn't seal the deal for 10.2. I'd be surprised if we didn't see a 10.2.7, but not very soon.

...complete with an iTunes 4.0.1 upgrade, for those of us still sharing our music via 4.0

or something.

Wouldn't they release this separately? As opposed to requiring a 10.2.7 update?

2. More efficient OpenGL implementation (to make gameplay better)
What's wrong with the current implementation?

I believe that 10.2.7 will be the last upgrade before Panther.

I prefer them to upgrade OpenGL, etc in Panther, not 10.2.7 so that would give us some great reasons to upgrade

Na, that's not the future... that's the present for Microsoft.

Heh! That's a good way to look at it.

Safari is not tied into the OS. Safari 1.0 will probably not come in a "10.2.x" update.
2. More efficient OpenGL implementation (to make gameplay better)
Updated nVIDIA/ATI drivers ship with incremental system updates, it's true, so this is a possibility.

I think 10.2.7 will come out in the near future and one more update a few weeks before Panther is released.

According to Think Secret , Safari 1.0 is scheduled to go GM before WWDC. (In other words, mere weeks away.)

There's no reason why Safari 1.0 would be anything other than a stand-alone download.

I certainly hope there is a 10.2.7 to fix the issues with USBAudio AGAIN (It broke again since 10.2.5).
