Did you enjoy your Griffin Powermate with 10.2.X? Well, it quit working under 10.3, and I got this reply from Griffin:

Hello,

We currently do not have projected date for an updated driver for OS X.3.

Sorry for any inconvenience,
Dustin

From a pro-Apple company like Griffin, you think they would have anticipated this and been prepared.

I just got my new Powermate and it does work under Panther, although it seems that after changing preferences I have to unplug / replug it for it to work with the updated settings. Still an immensely cool accessory.

Why would that crook's mouse even need a driver? It's a simple two button scroll mouse -- OS X has driver support for that right out of the box.

Does it work in conjunction with USB overdrive and Panther? Have any of you been able to customize the powermate's functions with USB overdrive?

Hmmm, I stopped using USB Overdrive as it seemed to be causing some stability problems for me. I'm hesitant to reinstall it on my fresh installation as a result

Hmm I just posted a similar thread on this issue, i got an email also form Dustin saying that this is a known error, and that they will sen email when they have a fix. Nice to know about that after the purchase, nothing on their website indicating issues with 10.3.2, they have said that it works on some and not on others. Nice of them huh. Anyhow we will see what happens.

I can get the powermate to work but every time i do anything that requires a restart e.g installing software or shutting down bingo bongo the damm thing stops working.
I've resorted to completely removing all trace of the software repairing the hard drive (as it appears to screw up the volume HFS and reinstalling, even then when i adjust the volume the on-screen volume level indicator doesn't work although the menu bar one does!
I've emailed Dustin repeatedly and this is his most recent reply.

Hello,

We have ran into this issue before. It usually has to do with either the
PowerMateDriver not loading in the Startup under Accounts. Or you'll need
to remove the Extensions.kextCache file from System-->Library folder.

Removing the Extensions.KextCache worked once for me!

Hope they fix it soon it's bugging the hell out of me.

Hello,

We will have a new driver out in a day or two...maybe three or four....but
it will be out soon. It has more functionality and it also may address any
issues with panther. To tell you the truth, our driver and installer seem to
work fine for virtually everyone and we can not reproduce the install issues
that you are having so I do not know for sure what it causing this to happen
for you. Lets go with a clean removal of the old software and then install
the new and see what happens. We can replace the unit if the new software
does not help. You have the latest and greatest version of the PM but it
could be defective too. Let us know how it goes and we will go from there.
