Check this out. I'd still rather have a G5 cause I won't use Windows

I wonder if they are not overclocking the P4. I have been looking into building a Intel-PC and the fastest CPU I have seen is the 3.2Ghz P4 (although I know the Intel just announced a new version of the 3.2 w 2MB of cache).

That site disturbs me. There's something very dodgy about it. It's not just the Apple look, the obviously tampered OSX icons and Apple graphics, but also the specs they are claiming.

Then on their news page they have the following item:

'05/2003 - Announcing the HOLLYWOOD, the first 17" Widescreen PC_Notebook'

Not only are they wrong and several months behind Apple (unless they were excluding Macs) but they were claiming to have a 3.2Ghz PIV and a 7200RPM 80GB HD in a slimline laptop.

Their laptop page doesn't even work.

It's a 3.2 P4 with an overclocked fsb of 950mhz. They use some sort of refrigeration cpu cooling to make it stable.

It looks legitimate to me and they even had one feature I've been waiting for: No system hard disk!

The entire operating system resides in flash ram for more or less instant boot/access. Cool feature.

Still runs windows though

Well of course it does. If you overclocked the hell out of a dual G5 and put the system in nonvolatile ram then it would do just fine. That's what they're doing to the P4.

IBM offers 7200rpm laptop drives with 8MB cache.

The laptop page works fine. Using a big heatpipe/heatsink they managed to squeeze-in a desktop P4 3.2. Not much different than previous P4 laptops before Centrino (mobile P4) was released. I'd guess with a power-sucking 'desktop' P4, a 17" screen, 1 GB of RAM, and dual 7200rpm hard drives (edit: found a quad hard drive option) - it'll be fast as hell until the battery dies fifteen minutes later.

Errr... I think you guys should check out this thread.

The entire operating system resides in flash ram for more or less instant boot/access.
I guess you don't realize that Flash RAM is usually much slower than a hard disk. You're thinking of non-Flash RAM based "drives".

That case looks like a VapoChill and they retail for 521.70 in the uk (just case and cooling unit), it's basically a fridge (works on same principle) which will allow massive overclocking of the cpu hence the clock speed, Manufacturers warranty will be void as soon as they turn it on.

Have you seen the prices!!!!

What is pathetic is that people think it is real and start acting like babies.

I sent that link to a hard core PC guy friend of mine. He said that those PCs are completely overclocked, and that the case is freon cooled. Also, The Benchmark, is total BS, because its running the over clocked P4 agains a single 2Ghz G5 Prossesor. If you look closely at the bottom of the bechmark, it does not say any thing about a dual processor. They probably disabled one before running the test. The honor of the G5 DP is still intact

If that's all real how the hell did they get a 3.2Ghz desktop CPU in such a thin laptop, and why do they say the Hollywood laptop is twice as fast as a G5? The specs are insane. The Extreme version even has the PIV 3.2Ghz with 2MBs cache, a 128MB Radeon 9600, 2GBs RAM, SPDIF, etc, etc for like 6 grand!

Not to mention a 2048x1536 resolution for the 15" screen.

The amusing part is somebody in the other thread complaining how Apple is ripping us off for not including these screens.
screw you apple, fu*king theives, 15" bs lcd displays with about a 3 pixel per inch resolution. i am so sick of 3 year old lcd technology being pushed on us for the price of todays technology that is on pc laptops...

Let's all report them and get them exposed before poor suckers by that crap. Start by notifying theregister.co.uk. They pretty much find out if something is a scam pretty quick.

It's not a fake. It's a real site and a real company. They obviously strive to be the Apple of the PC World. They probably even said that while sitting around a conference table one day, "We want to be the Apple of the PC World!"

Who cares? They are nothing but another PC builder, slapping loads of lipstick on the same old pig.

Get over it guys, please grow up.

You'd think, if it is indeed a real company and product, they could at least run their site through a spellchecker.

Joke or not, the thing is is that we still get these threads about the G5's lack of speed.
