Something happened to this machine, it will no longer take power from its AC adapter. It ran off the battery until it died. A new AC adapter had no effect. Its must be the laptop. I'm thinking the AC/Sound Card. Anyone else have any thoughts on the topic?

This may not be exactly what you wanna hear but it looks like this may be a sign to put out some cash for a new Powerbook. It won't be worth paying a technician to repair an old Mac that doesn't run OSX very well and then after the fix you will still have the old computer.

Which G3 is it? Did you try a PMU reset? This is likely to be the sound card, which isn't too expensive to get fixed.
