man!
always after lunch I take myself for a 20-30min walk so I can deal with sitting down for the rest of day. But sometimes I get back to my desk a have to really fight to stay awake! Like a little kid about to go face first in there dinner. It so sux!

I sleep ok and I don't think it's the walk but lunch settling. I restrict myself to 2 coffees a day and my second I normally hook up about 3.

Any tips for stay awake besides slapping myself silly?

I'm sure I'm not the only one

Guarana. Much better than caffeine. It'll keep you awake and alert for most of the day, instead of just give you a quick boost and then following crash as with coffee.

Also, eat fruit at the start of the day. Particularly grapes. Even raisins if you like them.

Eh, if that's what coffee is doing to you, you're drinking it wrong. Caffeine is best taken gradually, not as a sudden shock to the system. If you do it right, it can keep you going pretty well when you're tired, no crashing.

Maybe, you have to change your sleeping habits at night. Staying awake late into the night might be one of the causes.

Stand up, put your feet together, stretch your arms over your head and raise your heels off the the floor, hold it for 10 seconds and repeat. (it is some traction for your spine) Do this every hour or so and you'll stay awake, it is especially good if you are stuck at your desk and do not have much space to move about.

Just take a 10 minute nap every now and then, works for me.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

I know I wouldn't be so tired during the day if I quit being a vigilante by night.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

For an added stretch, you can interlock your fingers together with your palms facing upwards, then stretch your arms up and raise your heels

A quickie on the copier always does the job for me.

Having taken both caffeine and guarana in tablet forms I can definitely say, that for whatever reason - presence of other substances* or otherwise- guarana does not give the "jitters" that caffeine does. Nor does it provide the quick boost of energy, but rather a "slow burn" type of energy.

Guarana contains different amounts of caffeine, theobromine, theophylline and other alkaloids, compared to coffee, tea, mate, or cocoa.

Eat a bigger breakfast and a smaller lunch. I find that in particular, it helps if I split my lunch into two very small meals – one at like 11AM and one at 2PM.
