Darwin on 6100??

i was wondering if Darwin(not OS X, just Darwin) would work on a 6100/60mhz /2.4 gig SCSI HD, 72 Megs of RAM

No, this won't work, not even "unofficially". Your best bet is to install LinuxPPC.

LinuxPPC only work on PowerMacs with PCI slot, doesn't work on NuBus Mac. You can run mkLinux on 6100 instead.

iBabo,
as far as I remember, according to Apple, Darwin is being supported on the same range of hardware as Mac OS X (i.e., original G3 and up) even though the actual requirements such as RAM, etc. will be considerably lower for Darwin than for OS X.
If you are particularly interested in Darwin because of its BSD aspect, have a look at the NetBSD website:
http://www.netbsd.org/
The 6100 is clearly within the range of supported Macs under NetBSD.

Try for BSD if you want unix. I would avoid linux. I have some version of unix on my LCIII.

This seems misleading since right under that it says

Isn't 61xx the same as 6100.

i acctually have a copy of LinuxPPC 2000 and it doesnt work on the 6100, i was told by a friend that its worth trying out to see if Darwin would work on the 6100.
