The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Monday financial companies will no longer be allowed to force customers to use arbitration to settle group disputes, restricting the industry's favored legal tool after years of review.
Good stuff.

No idea what this was, so I Googled "trump jim".

First autocomplete was the right answer. Second was "trump jim jones".

So, maybe this means nothing or explains everything: Who do conservatives dislike more, Democrats or the Russians?

Nevada gave regulators the power for emergency regulations to address dispensaries are running low on weed.

The reason? Right now only liquor distributors are allowed to transport the product. This is regulatory capture in action, right?

Former national security adviser Susan Rice will testify before the House intelligence committee about Russian actions during the 2016 presidential campaign and allegations that she 'unmasked' the names of Americans in contact with Russian officials, a high-ranking committee source told Fox News Thursday.
This should be interesting.

Paul J. Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman, recently filed financial reports with the Justice Department showing that his lobbying firm earned nearly $17 million for two years of work for a Ukrainian political party with links to the Kremlin.

Curiously, that was more than the party itself reported spending in the same period for its entire operation — the national political organization’s expenses, salaries, printing outlays and other incidentals.
Handwritten ledgers that surfaced last year indicated that the party had actually spent about $2 billion over the past decade or so, much or most of it illegally. Some outlays like payments to an election official possibly amounted to criminal bribery.

Mr. Manafort has not been charged with breaking any laws regarding the reporting of income derived from his efforts on behalf of the party. The disclosures cap lengthy negotiations between Mr. Manafort and officials at the Justice Department, which monitors the activities of Americans who work on behalf of foreign political parties and governments.
A Ukrainian investigation of this discrepancy is not likely. The Party of Regions is now disbanded, and prosecutors are looking into far more serious crimes than campaign finance filing errors.

Moreover, at the time the party made its declarations, filing a false campaign finance report was considered an administrative offense akin to a parking ticket and punishable by no more than a fine of a few hundred dollars, said Ostap Kuchma, a party finance analyst at the anticorruption group Chesno.

"Feminist Professors Urge Scholars Not To Cite White Men in Research to Fight Racism"
https://heatst.com/culture-wars/femi...-fight-racism/

I can't... I can't even... This is so stupid it actually causes physical pain. Don't even bother to check for a pulse, academia is so dead the buzzards have already picked it clean.

"Feminist geographers are urging their fellow scholars in academia to think twice before citing a research paper written by a white man, claiming it contributes to “white heteromasculinity”.

Rutgers University professor Carrie Mott and University of Waterloo professor Daniel Cockayne have penned an academic journal article arguing that scholars ought to consider an author’s gender, race or sexuality before citing their work."

Help needed (top):

Assuming Coulter is the woman on the left, who's on the right? Was she the Florida one who spoke at the RNC? Also, who's above her? Gorka and Mark Levin? No idea with the third.

Is that Pence in the hat? Who are the two white guys below Pepe?

Help needed (bottom):

Shaun King on the left?

I recognize no one surrounding Zuck except for the Hilldawg.

You're correct with Cenk, and I was able to get DeRay, since he's two degrees of separation from Zuck

Good guess with Kayleigh.

I've decided it's Patricia Clarkson playing the role of conservative blonde white woman.

I read the abstract, and this pair is pretty obnoxious, but they're probably correct the bulk of geography research (which is ultimately sociology) is conducted by white male Marxists, and that can't be good either.

They don't care, they believe any white male's research is to be ignored, simply because they're white and male. Ironic that the people who supposedly espouse equality to the most are the loudest bigots.

Let's assume this is the case, and then reel it back to see if there's a valid point buried underneath.

Here's the scenario I present.

If one has the option to use two essentially equivalent examples of research, one performed by a white male, and one not, is it okay to choose the one written by the not-white candidate simply because they're not white?

No. You choose based on the merits of the paper and the experience of the researcher, not their race or gender. Doing otherwise is the very essence of bigotry.

Example. Starting in April of this year we don't even have a place on our applications for gender, ethnicity, or age (D.O.B.) anymore (and only ask for the initials of their first and middle names). They aren't even factored into our hiring decisions. Why? Because I've ****ed up in the past and overcompensated, imposing my own form of internal "affirmative action", and it's wrong.

It's clear to me how overcompensation, and the results it entails, can have a detrimental effect on hiring.

I'm not so clear when it comes to a citation in the scenario I described.

It's a problem if inferior work is chosen because of gender or whatever, but that's not the question.

If the choice would have no impact on the quality of the work, am I making a mistake by picking the non-white male choice solely on that criteria? The "scientific" method would be to flip a coin.

I say this is not a mistake, and thus must cop to the accusation "we have determined what you are, all that remains is negotiating price".
