I did that a couple times when I was a kid. My mom took me around for several days at a time selling different types of greeting and birthday cards. I always took cash instead of any of the things they offered. I made enough money to buy the Wayne Manor toy after the first Batman movie was out, which was like $40, I think. Every time I did this it was because there was something I wanted to buy that my parents wouldn't buy for me. Its amazing what people will order from a 10 year old who comes to their door.

The fact that I remember thinking about selling things for these prizes also reminds me of how deprived a childhood I had. Those were some great prizes for little kids!

I remember ads like this 40 years ago. I think it was for greeting cards though.

I remember selling Grit.

The newspaper. Anyone else sell Grit? Did I spell that right? It's been decades ago.

Is that from 1989? I remember them from the 70s.

How about 100 toy soldiers for $2.99?

I remember the Grit ads. What the f*** was Grit?

Me too. I had a bunch of those Estes rockets 40 years ago. We made our own launcher out of a steel plate, wire rod and an old car battery. I had one with a clear "payload" section and parachute. We used to catch field mice and give them a ride. Boys will be boys.

Memories.
