Yeah, I don't know when they fixed it, but I decided to try it again a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Best fix since the redesign, IMO.

Nothing I've done - hadn't noticed that issue.

They did a vB patch update this morning, which is less than a point update, no change in the version number. Maybe they fixed up the js file that controls the multiquote button setting.

Maybe this is intentional, but it would be good to put a message to that effect, rather than just refreshing the page and showing no results...

Thanks,

That's odd. A portion of my post disappeared. Anyway, the bug I was reporting is this:

If you try to search while not logged in, it won't search. If you're on the basic search, it takes you to the advanced search page. If you're on the advanced search page, it just refreshes the search page. There is no error message displayed, and no information to indicate this is not allowed.

Maybe this is intentional (you need to log in to search), but it would be good to put a message to that effect, rather than just refreshing the page and showing no results...

Thanks,

-Scott

Ah, I figured out where the first part of my post went. I put it in the "title" field (and found another potential bug, or at least UI issue). Why is there a title field for replies when that field doesn't show up in the post?

I can't just save edits done to my signature. I have to first preview, then click save edits. bug? or has it always been that way?

I just checked with my regular-member test account. When you click the "Save Signature" button, it shows the Preview + edit box with new buttons.

But ... the signature change was indeed saved. I didn't have to save a 2nd time.

after I have clicked preview and then click save signature it then, and only then, takes me to:

Thanks for the suggestion seanc. I just did a full safari reset and it still does the same behavior. Oh well, no biggie, I know how to by-pass it now. Thank you and reader50 again.

MAJOR BUG:
I have pop up windows disabled in safari, and when I get a PM here, I click okay for the notice, and then another window pops up telling me about me having pop up windows blocked. when this window comes up, safari completely freezes, the traffic signal buttons grey out, and the only way to do anything is to force quit safari.

Yeah, that's not a general forum issue, but Safari has never really worked properly with the private message notifications.

I've just gotten used to hitting "OK" then "Cancel," and I'm taken right to my PM.

I've noticed something recently:

This shows up in Firefox on both OS X and Windows. I'm using 3.0 and 1.5; it shows up in both.

Are we talking about the “Post reply” button not being aligned with the container boxes, or the bottom ten pixels of the left column in the container box being wider than the rest?

’Cause I’m seeing the first one (don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that or if it’s a bug, never even noticed that there was a “Post reply” button before), but not the second. (Safari 3.1.2, 10.4.11)

The fact that the bottom segment of the grey left-hand column isn't aligned with the rest of the column.

The Post Reply button has always been there and is more or less aligned with the end of the rounded corner over there.

I'd hoped it was a temporary burp when it happened to me a few days ago.

Lets continue to see how it goes, because if it's intermittent, it'll be difficult to fix.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but the login window doesn't render quite right in Safari.

OS 10.5.5, Safari 3.1.2

The same thing happens in Mobile Safari, but it works fine in Firefox.

Some fixes have been applied to member profile pages.

Besides tidying up some display code, the recent visitors box appears now. For those with infractions or warnings, the Infractions box finally shows too. This got left out of the redesign somehow. Possibly by appearing after effgee started the file adjustments. Note: a member's Infraction box is not visible to other members.

Just this morning we plugged another hole. There had been heavy spammer registrations over the past three months, but most of them hadn't posted anything. We finally figured out the trick - they were creating profile data, to be captured by search engines. Even banning didn't defeat this - check out this profile page as of last night:

A bit of hacking later, and check the same page now. The extra info boxes do not appear for bannees, unless they have undeleted posts, or a banclock - ie, a regular-member on tempban.

It was fixed up a couple weeks ago, along with the infractions stuff. Then I waited to see if anyone noticed.

* chirp, chirp *

Apparently, only a select few noticed.

It works for me, both when signed in and when not signed in. And I can look at my own whether signed in or not. You might try closing your browser and restarting it.

update:
Figured out what causes it.

You can't click onto your own profile from a post you just made. one has to refresh the page for the links to work.

i.e: I won't be able to click into my profile with this post, but the one above this one will work just fine.

Well, the multi-quote button seems to be all messed up again. Go back to page 3 to find the details - it's doing the same exact thing it was back then.

I did notice an increase. What surprised me most was that I even saw this happen with like only 5 people online. Load must have been near zero. After several reloads the error went away, but it was still really slow.

In case specificity helps:

Fatal error: Unable to connect to memcache server in [path]/includes/class_datastore.php on line 224
Edit: Actually I see Simon already did this. In that case, in case repetition helps.
