I also have a hd 15" Powerbook, and I got the wallpaper that shows the problem and sent it in to Apple. They replaced the screen, and I am now very happy with the machine.

Why is it a surprise to anyone that there were significant issues with a Rev A machine with both new hardware and software?

Well, the powerbook G4 last revision had many problems too. Maybe Apple just doesn't know how to make quality computers anymore? Rev A is not an excuse for poor quality control.

Whoa, whoa...it's not like software is suddenly going to be "Intel-only"!! Universal Binary means "runs natively on both!"

If your current machine is fast enough (and has all the kinks worked out), why sell?

I think the MBP display is great...well, at least mine. Like I said, my wife's IBM is great, but I think the clarity and depth of my MBP is better..... but that is just me...

Hmmmm. When did "properly applying thermal goo" become a significant issue?

Can't think of any problems with the 14.2" Pismo laptops made by Apple in 2000. With current OWC batteries you get about 13 hours battery life. So, get one on Ebay for about $350, put in a G4 processor from Daystar for another $300 and two new batteries from OWC for another $300 and for $1000 you have a better laptop than the crap Apple is making now (unless you for some reason require extreme processor speed which most people don't). And it runs all OS's from 9 to the present, natively.
