I've got a problem where if I drag multiple items off my desktop, more often than not the entire Finder will crash and relaunch.

I'm using a g4 1.25 dual with 1.5 GB of RAM. I have Little Snitch and MenuMeters and PowerMate installed on my system. Other than that, no 3rd party extensions.

Any ideas? Here's the crash log. Many thanks!

Font problem maybe.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Thanks, that's a good place to start. I've not tinkered with any fonts on the system to the best of my knowledge. Is there a known way to debug font rendering problems?

Haha.. don't blame me. My machine apparently is very happy and is quite self motivated. Which is why this font problem is so bizarre.

I am able to crash the Finder always just by dragging more than one picture file at once from the desktop.

I can reproduce it, and some friends also.

Just edit the post and check "Disable Smilies in This Post."

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Is your setup at all similar to mine? Maybe we can find a common thread.

Not at all.

PowerBook G4 12" 867 mhz, no haxies, no software like yours.

Going to try on a Sawtooth that has a pretty untouched very clean setup.

I am not able to reproduce it on the Sawtooth (PowerMac G4 400, AGP Graphics). It has the OEM card, so no Quartz Extreme. Maybe QE is to blame.

I did an archieve and install from Jaguar to Panther in the PowerBook, btw.

eevyl -- thanks for the legwork there. in a strange way, nice to know others are also having the problem.

Mmm it is no QE issue, since one of my friends who owns an iBook with no QE is having the same problem.

Weird.
